It's one of the many shows impacted by the WGA strike
It's going to be a while before we get to see Severance Season 2. In early May, the Apple TV+ workplace drama became one of the many shows to shut down production in solidarity with the WGA as the writers' strike continues. There's no telling when the strike will be over, so for now we can only rewatch Season 1 and theorize about the characters new cast members Gwendoline Christie, John Noble, and Merritt Wever will play when the series does eventually return.
Read on to learn everything we currently know about Severance Season 2.
On May 8, it was announced that Severance halted production on Season 2 in the early days of the ongoing WGA strike.
The series has started filming Season 2, but there's no word on when we'll get to see new episodes. Stiller even told us as much back in April, recommending that we all collectively choose patience after being asked by a fan on Twitter how long the wait would be.
Patricia Arquette gave similar advice in January 2023, telling Entertainment Tonight, "You'll get it when you get it. And you won't get upset."
We have no idea yet! Creator Dan Erickson didn't reveal much at the Severance Comic-Con panel, saying only that Season 2 would focus on "building out the world a little bit more, and with this tweak to reality, what the ramifications would be." And when asked whether the show will explain what the deal is with the goats, Erickson simply replied, "Yeah." Great!
Apple TV+ confirmed that all the severed and un-severed Lumon employees, including Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, and Dichen Lachman, will return for Season 2.
Apple TV+ also revealed that eight new cast members will join the ensemble, appearing in undisclosed roles: Gwendoline Christie, Bob Balaban, Merritt Wever, Alia Shawkat, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, John Noble, Robby Benson, and Stefano Carannante.
Severance Season 1 is now streaming on Apple TV+.
