All the Canceled and Renewed TV Shows This Month (June 2023)

After a quiet start to the month, the television reaper has been busy, swiping its scythe across broadcast networks, cable shows, and streaming services. Paramount+ has cut four shows, including Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies and Star Trek: Prodigy, which will be removed from the streamer. NBC canceled Magnum P.I. and made its decisions on its trio of comedies that were on the bubble, and it was a loud series of three pops. Showtime's Billions is also preparing to cash its last check after eight seasons. But it wasn't all death and destruction. After plenty of uproar from fans, Warrior Nun is being brought back from the afterlife, according to its showrunner. Plus, Netflix gave renewals to XO, Kitty and FUBAR, Hulu wants more Nine Perfect Strangers, and Apple TV+'s sci-fi show Silo is coming back for Season 2.

TV show cancellations

• Reservation Dogs, Hulu: The FX series will end with its upcoming third season, which premieres Aug. 2 on Hulu. Creator Sterlin Harjo announced the news on Instagram, writing, "As we continued to break stories and write scripts this season, it became clear to the producers, Taika [Waititi] and me that the season three finale is the perfect SERIES finale." Harjo added that characters from the world of Reservation Dogs are "likely" to "show up in other stories to come." (June 29, Instagram)
• The Other Two, Max: Chase Dreams has chased his last dream. The showbiz satire is ending with Season 3. (June 28, The Hollywood Reporter)
• Breeders, FX: The comedy about parenthood will end with Season 4, which premieres July 31. (June 28, Variety)
• Magnum P.I., NBC: The 10-episode second half of Season 5, which is expected sometime in early 2024, will be the last episodes. Magnum P.I. evaded cancellation once before when NBC rescued it after CBS axed it. (June 23, Deadline)
• Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, Paramount+: The musical series, a prequel to Grease, has been canceled after one season at Paramount+ and will be removed from the platform. (June 23, The Hollywood Reporter)
• Star Trek: Prodigy, Paramount+: The animated Star Trek series aimed at younger audiences won't return for Season 2 on Paramount+ and will be removed from the streamer, despite the fact that it was initially renewed for Season 2 in 2021. Executive producer Aaron J. Waltke has tweeted that the second season will still be completed and is "seeking a new home." (June 23, TVLine)
• The Game, Paramount+: The revival of The CW/BET series has been canceled after two seasons, and it will no longer be available to stream on Paramount+. (June 23, The Hollywood Reporter)
• Queen of the Universe, Paramount+: The drag queen competition show won't return for Season 3 and will be removed from the streaming platform. (June 23, The Hollywood Reporter)
• High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Disney+: It looks like the East High Wildcats have to go their own way. The Disney+ musical series will wrap with its fourth season, which premieres Aug. 9. (June 21, The Hollywood Reporter)
• American Auto, NBC: The NBC comedy was taken off the production line after two seasons. (June 16, Deadline)
• Billions, Showtime: The hit drama will end with its upcoming seventh season, which is set to premiere on Aug. 11 on streaming (Paramount+ with Showtime) and Aug. 13 on Showtime. Damian Lewis is set to return for half of the final season. (June 15, Variety)
• Gotham Knights, The CW: The DC Comics show about the aftermath of Bruce Wayne's death has been canceled after one season on The CW. (June 12, Deadline)
• Young Rock, NBC: TV's only show inspired by the life of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been canceled after three seasons in the ring. (June 9, The Hollywood Reporter)
• Grand Crew, NBC: The hangout comedy has poured its last glass of wine. NBC canceled the show after two seasons. (June 9, The Hollywood Reporter)
• I Love That for You, Showtime: The Vanessa Bayer comedy about a home shopping channel host has been canceled after one season at Showtime. The show had been waiting for word on its fate for a year. (June 7, The Hollywood Reporter)
• Perry Mason, HBO: The reimagining of the classic series, starring Matthew Rhys as the private-investigator-turned-lawyer, was canceled after two seasons, despite many liking the second season much more. (June 6, Deadline)

TV show renewals

• FROM, MGM+: The sci-fi horror series is coming back for a 10-episode third season, which MGM+ said is set for 2024. (June 29, MGM+) 
• Warrior Nun, TBD: It looks like the Warrior Nun warriors just got good news. On June 28, showrunner Simon Barry tweeted that Warrior Nun, which was originally canceled by Netflix in December 2022, "will return and is going to be more EPIC than you could imagine." • Bupkis, Peacock: Pete Davidson's Bupkis isn't living up to its name. The Peacock show has scored a second season. (June 23, The Hollywood Reporter)
• Nine Perfect Strangers, Hulu: Nicole Kidman's series based on the Liane Moriarty book is headed to the Swiss Alps for Season 2. (June 21, Deadline)
• School Spirits, Paramount+: The supernatural teen drama about a girl stuck in high school in the afterlife has been renewed for Season 2. (June 20, Paramount+)
• FUBAR, Netflix: The Arnold Schwarzenegger action series about father-daughter spies will be back for Season 2. (June 17, Deadline)
• Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal, Adult Swim: The acclaimed animated series has escaped extinction thanks to a Season 3 renewal. (June 16, Adult Swim)
  
• Spirit Rangers, Netflix: The groundbreaking preschool series will return for Season 3. (June 15, The Hollywood Reporter)
• XO, Kitty, Netflix: The To All The Boys spin-off from Jenny Han has scored a second season. It only makes sense considering how many cliffhangers there are from the Season 1 finale. (June 14, Netflix)
• Silo, Apple TV+: The sci-fi series based on Hugh Howey's novels has been renewed for a second season. (June 14, Apple TV+)
• Physical 100, Netflix: The search for the perfect physique continues. Netflix has renewed its reality competition series Physical 100 for Season 2. (June 13, Variety)
• All American: Homecoming, The CW: The All American spin-off, set in the world of collegiate sports at an HBCU, has scored another win: a renewal for a 13-episode third season. (June 12, The CW)
• Superman & Lois, The CW: The superhero family drama hasn't lost its powers yet. Superman and Lois has been renewed for a 10-episode fourth season. (June 12, The CW)
• Sullivan's Crossing, The CW: The Canadian series starring Chad Michael Murray has been picked up for a second season on The CW. (June 8, The CW)
